Bikash Bharati Welfare Society (BBWS) was established in 1963 by Late Naresh Chandra Sengupta,an
eminent National Award Winner in Child Welfare with commitment to work in the multifarious fields of
social work at the National Level,addressing to the needs and priorities of the poor,deprived and the
marginalized sections of the community residing in the rural areas and urban slums in particular,besides
others.
Bikash Bharati Welfare Society further in 1969 started their new campus at Jhargram (covering 200
bighas of land) and this was inaugurated by The Deputy Prime Minister of Sri Morarji Desai.BBWS is
registered under (l) the Societies Registration Act 1961(Regd.No.S-9948), the persons with Disabilities
Act 1995(Regd.No,48-com);The National Trust Act 1999(Regd. No 2567/MR-CP/2006);the Rehabilitation
Council of India (accreditation no-18-106/CG/2007-RCI)and the National Institute of Open Schooling
(Accreditation no.OB2200202). The Organization is also registered under Ministry of Home Affairs to
receive Foreign Contribution under the F.C.R.Act 1976(Regd. No. 147120441).Donations to the Society
are exempted from Income Tax u/s 80G of I.T.Act.
BBWS operates in the states of West Bengal ,Odisa and Delhi with centers located at Jhargram,
Tarakeswar, Cossipore and Baranagar(W.B.), Ghatsila(Jharkhand) and Ranibagh(Delhi).
BBWS has the distinction of twice being conferred with the NATIONAL AWARD in 1982 for Child
Welfare(individual to the Society’s Founder Director) and in 1987 for Best Handicapped Welfare
Institute.The Society holds the ,BEST TRACK RECORD ,holding organization by the Government. |
